Peter Don't if anyone in the U.K. saw the proggie on C.4. on Sat evening (19th)?
Taking four guys and training them to joust in the 'correct' way. This was finalised down at Pembroke castle in Sth. Wales.
Certainly put to rest a few myths about them not being able to get off the floor when down. They were doing forward rolls etc in full armour!
And if they could be trained to do that in 2-weeks (all were riders), what could a man trained from birth do?
PeterMaria Seems to me there are a lot of clichees around... I read about the swords, which were said to be very heavy and unbalanced. Which was not true. And they demonstrated with them, pointing out that you don't use them as if they were japonese ones.
Also the "nobles not bathing" ... They found a Turkish bathroom in one of King Henry VIII castles.Merlin Peter, I saw that TV-program almost a year ago on 'Arte', then with german subtitles. Very impressive how fast they learned to balance their weapons and to move in full armour.
